Bella desperately needs an operation to help her breathe – can you help?
When Bella, a 4 year old French Bulldog, came to our rescue centre in January, the first thing we noticed is how hard she has to struggle to breathe.
Bella has a really severe case of BOAS (Brachycephalic Obstructive Airway Syndrome) – a condition often suffered by flat-faced dog breeds. Bella has to work so hard just to breathe and often vomits her food back up after eating.
As if Bella didn’t have enough to put up with, she also has constricted and painful ears caused by chronic inflammation of her ear canals, a painful disjointed knee, a hernia and a big lump on her left elbow which looks like an old fracture repair that’s now causing problems.
Bella’s numerous conditions all need treating, but the most urgent is a BOAS operation to help her be able to breathe more normally. The operation, which will remove excess soft tissue from Bella’s airways and soft palate, will be carried out by a specialist vet at Seymour Vets.
You can read more about BOAS (Brachycephalic Obstructive Airway Syndrome) here.
If Bella does not have the BOAS operation, the condition will kill her. Honestly we don’t know how she has coped for this long.
Only after this has been done and Bella can breathe, can we look at treating her other conditions. Bella will need to have recovery time between all the surgeries she needs so the process will take some time.
All of Bella’s surgeries together will cost £3280.
The video above shows the difficulty Bella has when trying to breathe. As you can also see from the video, Bella is an incredibly sweet girl!
Can you help Bella to have her life-saving operation?
We will be going ahead with Bella’s BOAS operation and all her other treatments come what may, because she needs to have them. However, we are a small charity and these kinds of extra veterinary costs are not what we expect to be faced with when we take in animals who need our help.
We need to raise £3280 and we are asking you, our lovely supporters, if you can please help us to help Bella.
If you can spare ANY small amount towards Bella’s life-saving operation we would be SO grateful for your support.
Any amount you can spare, no matter how small, will make a massive difference to Bella’s world.
You can donate using the form below (please write in the Comment section that your donation is for Bella so we can make sure your money goes to the right place).
Thank you so much, from the bottom of our hearts.
