Q. Where are you located?
A. Our Rescue Centre is located in Ipplepen, just outside Newton Abbot in Devon, UK.
Q. Are you open for public visiting?
A. Our Reception is open daily from 10am-4pm, for enquiries and deliveries.
Our animal departments are not open for general public access for welfare reasons, and all rehoming / adoption is by appointment.
If you are interested in adopting an animal please apply via our website, and we will contact you to arrange an appointment time if your application is successful.

Q. I am looking to adopt a dog. What is the process?
A. Thank you for wanting to give a rescue dog a second chance at a happy life!
All the dogs currently looking for new homes can be seen Please apply for any that you think might be suitable by clicking on the green “apply to rehome me” button on the dog’s individual webpage & filling out the online form. Our kennel team will contact you if you & the dog are a suitable match and invite you to come and meet them for a series of walks before making your final decision.
It’s also worth keeping your eye on that page, which gets updated all the time with available dogs, & then applying for any dogs who you think may be suitable for you. You can read more about our dog rehoming process
We do receive a large number of applications for dogs, so if you are not successful the first time, please do keep applying. If you have any further questions, please contact us.
Q. I am looking to adopt a cat. What is the process?
A. Thank you for wanting to give a rescue cat a second chance at a happy life.
Please click here to see all the cats we currently have available for rehoming.
The best thing is to keep your eye on that page, which gets updated all the time with available cats, and then applying for any cats who you think may be suitable for you. You can do this by clicking on the green “apply to rehome me” button on the individual cat’s webpage, and filling out the form.
Once we have all your details, if you and the cat in question are a suitable match our cattery team will contact you to come in for a rehoming appointment and to meet the cat.
If you are not successful the first time, please do keep applying.

Q. I am looking to adopt a kitten. What is the process?
A. Thank you for wanting to give a home to a kitten from our Rescue Centre.
Unfortunately we don’t reserve kittens in advance or keep a waiting list, so the best thing is to keep your eye on the Cats available for rehoming page, where all kittens will be displayed when available. You can see this by clicking here.

Q. I need to hand over my dog for rehoming. What is the process?
A. Please would you be able to fill out our Dog Intake Form, so our kennel team have all your dog’s details? Click here to fill out the form.
Once we have all the information, we can contact you for a chat about how we can help.
Please be advised that we currently a waiting list of dogs to come in, so there may be a wait before we could help. It would also be worth contacting other rescues and getting on their waiting lists at the same time to broaden your chances.
Please note that we are located in Devon and can only take in dogs from our local area.
Q. I need to hand over my cat/s for rehoming. What is the process?
A. Please would you be able to fill out our Cat Intake Form, so our cattery team have all your cat’s details? Click here to fill out the form.
Once we have all the information, we will put your cat on our waiting list and will contact you when we have space to take them in. Please be aware that we have a waiting list of cats to come in already, so there will be a wait. It would also be worth your while to contact other rescues to broaden your chances.

Q. I need to hand over my rabbit/s for rehoming. What is the process?
A. Please note that we are located in Devon and can only take in animals from our local area.
If you are in Devon and need to rehome your rabbit/s, please can you drop an email to info@animalsindistress.uk.com and our small animal team will contact you.
Please note that we have a waiting list for rabbits to come in and it may be a while before we have space to take your rabbit. It would be worth your while to contact other rescues at the same time and get on their waiting lists too, to broaden your chances.
Q. I need to hand over my guinea pig/s for rehoming. What is the process?
A. Please note that we are located in Devon and can only take in animals from our local area.
If you are in Devon and need to rehome your guinea pig/s, please can you drop an email to info@animalsindistress.uk.com and our small animal team will get back to you.
Q. Do you take in rodents or birds at your rescue centre?
A. Unfortunately we can only take dogs, cats, rabbits and guinea pigs at our rescue centre.
Q. Do you accept food donations for the animals at the Rescue Centre?
A. Thank you so much for wanting to donate food for the animals at the rescue centre.
We would love to receive it (even opened packets of dried food), if you would be so kind as to bring it to our rescue centre in Ipplepen. There is always someone there between 10am and 4pm every day (Reception closed 12.30 – 1.30 for lunch).

Q. Do you accept donations of duvets / pillows / cushions / sheets / duvet covers / pillow cases?
A. Unfortunately, we cannot take any duvets, pillows or cushions for the dogs, as we are not able to wash and dry them easily enough for a daily wash.
We also do not use sheets, duvet covers or pillow cases.

Q. Do you accept donations of towels or blankets for the animals?
A. Yes please, we are always in need of towels and blankets and would love to receive them, if you would be so kind as to bring them to our rescue centre in Ipplepen. There is always someone there between 10am and 4pm every day (Reception closed 12.30-1.30 for lunch).

Q. Do you accept donations of toys / collars / harnesses / dog coats?
A. Yes please we would love to receive the items listed above, if you would be so kind as to bring them to our Rescue Centre in Ipplepen. There is always someone there between 10am and 4pm every day (Reception closed 12.30-1.30 for lunch).

Q. Do you accept donations of newpapers?
A. Yes please, we always need old newspapers for the animals at the Rescue Centre.
We would love to receive them, if you would be so kind as to bring them to our Rescue Centre in Ipplepen. There is always someone there between 10am and 4pm every day (Reception closed 12.30-1.30 for lunch).

Q. Do you accept donations of shredded paper?
A. Yes please, we always need shredded paper for our rabbits and guinea pigs, as long as it’s long, straight-cut shredded, and could be brought to our Rescue Centre. (Cross-cut paper is too dusty for the animals).
There is someone here every day between 10 and 4 (Reception closed 12.30-1.30 for lunch).

Q. Can children volunteer at your rescue centre?
A. The minimum ages to volunteer at our Rescue Centre are as follows:
Rabbits and guinea pigs: 16 years (14 years if part of Duke of Edinburgh Award – limited spaces available)
Cats: 16 years
Dogs: 18 years
