Early on the morning of Sunday 12th November, we found a box abandoned on our driveway in the dark – and the box lid was open. It became apparent when the box was carried into the light that there was in fact a mother cat and kittens in the box when abandoned. Unfortunately the Mum had escaped. Thankfully the 4 young kittens were still in the box, and they were of an age where they no longer needed to rely on their Mum. We took the kittens in to care for them, and we put out some traps, containing food and the scent of her babies, to try and catch the mum, although we didn’t hold out much hope of seeing her again.
Thankfully, 5 days later we were lucky enough to catch her. The beautiful tabby girl was seen twice in the lane one day, so we put an extra trap out that night, and our wonderful Keith went out every few hours during the night in a horrible storm to check the traps. He found her in one of the traps at 3am.
Mum is a lovely friendly girl, seemed very happy to be safe and warm indoors at last, after her horrible ordeal for 5 days and nights.
