Cuddles the cat, who strayed from Essex to Devon

Cuddles the cat was found wandering the streets of Kingsteignton in April.  A kindly lady noticed the stray cat had been hanging around the area for a couple of weeks, and had attached a note to her collar to try and find out if anyone owned her, but got no reply.  The lady managed to catch her, and took her to the vets to be scanned for a microchip. The vet found that the phone numbers on the microchip were no longer in use, and so they were not able to contact the owner, and said there was nothing more they could do.

The lady then brought Cuddles into the Animals in Distress Rescue Centre in Ipplepen, where she was scanned again and we managed to contact her owners by phoning the vet who originally implanted the microchip.  The cat’s original owner was Cheryl Willats from Loughton, Essex.  She told us that Cuddles was her long-lost cat, who had gone missing from her home in Essex 2 years ago! They had given up hope of ever finding her again, or of finding out what had happened to her.  She was absolutely over the moon that Cuddles was alive and well, and had been found. Mr and Mrs Willats sent us a donation to thank us for looking after Cuddles, and then they drove to Devon as soon as they could to collect Cuddles, and take her back home.

Cuddles is now happily settling into her old home in Essex with her family, and new cat friend. None of us will ever know how she travelled the 240 miles from Essex to Devon, and what she has been doing for the past two years! We are all just glad that she is now home where she belongs.
