Our rescue dogs always change our lives for the better, but some rescue dogs go that extra mile and have a major positive impact on our lives by helping us to overcome illness or adversity.

Geordie went to live in his forever home with Mr and Mrs Peck, who have given him a lovely life. Geordie also looks after Mrs Peck and helps her when she is ill. We were so happy to get this update from Mrs Peck:

“My husband and I have had two dogs from Animals in Distress in the last 20 years. The first was Charlie a border collie we adopted back in 1996 when he was 4 years old.

“Like most he had a bad time previously. To begin with he was a handful as he had issues, but after a while he settled. We had him until he was 14 years old, when we had to have him put to sleep due to a long illness.

“Our current dog is Geordie a border collie who had been at Animals in Distress for 18 months due to his issues. He has been a beautiful and charming little man, and he settled after about 3 months.

“Due to illness I have blackouts and also suffer with a lot of pain, Geordie keeps an eye on me and follows me everywhere. He makes life bearable and really cheers me up with his quirky personality.”

We are so happy for Geordie as he has a wonderful life now, and he is clearly devoted to his owners.
